Founded by two Geminis, Loraine Consunji and her business partner thought to create an establishment named after the two brightest stars in the constellation of the twins, but with a more fun, more palate-friendly twist. Castor and Pollux—which can be a genuine mouthful—were reborn on planet earth as Kas & Poly. “It’s a place where conversations are most welcome, whether you’re with family, friends, or even business partners,” Loraine shared at the launch. “We love the idea that the longer you dine, the more you enjoy and appreciate the food that’s being served along with the restaurant's look and feel.”

The interiors are sleek yet warm. The first floor is a space for those who want to see what goes on backstage while dining in with their fur babies. As soon as you come in, they ask you for your zodiac sign, give you a sticker and a message card, then whisk you away to your seat. A stairwell leads to a wall bearing the quote “Excuse me while I kiss the sky” leads to the mezzanine level, which plays host to the main dining room and the Gemini Lounge, a well-appointed space for private functions.

The menu and all it has to offer are even more incredible. We were quick to order an assortment of their gorgeous drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Named after the planets, the cosmic tea infusions and spritzes are great for day drinking. Among the crowd favorites at the launch were Neptune (non-alcoholic; butterfly pea flower, fresh lemonade) and Saturn (alcoholic; passionfruit, cilantro, Mancino secco vermouth, tonic water, Prosecco). Their coffee selections are just as spectacular. Do yourself a kind deed and sit down with an aerocano and a slice of the sinful Andromeda, a chocolate and olive oil cake.

The mains of course, are where the party’s at. The server makes conversation by offering you a menu item that matches your sign, but it’s completely up to you to choose what you want to feast on. I went for the Scorpio Pulpo, a beautifully plated dish consisting of char-grilled octopus, chermoula, roasted pepper, and charred onions. As your typical Scorpio, I felt quite honored to be represented by one of the “monsters of the deep.”

Other must-try dishes are the Taurus Oxtail—almost everyone at the launch was going crazy for it (and with good reason), Aquarius Chelo Kebab, and the Sunrise pizza (creamed pumpkin sauce, chicken, caramelized onions, cherry balsamic glaze, mushrooms, spinach, mozzarella).

“At the end of the day, we just want to create a space where people feel connected as they are catered to,” Loraine said. “Aside from simply coming up with unique ideas that excite and inspire curiosity among our audiences, we also want to share with them our passion for creating remarkable experiences made with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and an overall atmosphere you’d want to keep coming back to.”
