New Restaurant: Paik's Coffee Opens In Makati
Sip the OG Ah-Ah those Kpop celebs can’t get enough of!
South Korea’s got a pretty astonishing coffee culture, with cafés of all varieties packed into city blocks and malls, or tucked away in charming side streets. For the coffee lover, a trip to explore Seoul’s cafés is something to look forward to. So we’re really thrilled Paik’s Coffee, one of Korea’s largest coffee chains, opened in Glorietta just this month.
The café first opened in 2006 under the name Wonjobucks Coffee [원조벅스], and only changed its name to Paik’s Coffee in 2015. It’s owned by the most famous chef in Korea, Paik Jong-won, the main host of SBS’ cooking television series Baek Jong-won’s Top 3 Chef King, Baek Jong-won’s Food Truck, and Alley Restaurant. He also released Baek Spirit on Netflix in 2021.
Unlike its postage-stamp sized outlets in Korea, Paik’s Coffee in Glorietta is a large, spacious place with a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Gleaming white walls, flowers to add touches of color, and a cozy scattering of tables that can accommodate everyone from solo coffee drinkers to groups.
Paik’s Coffee serves specialty coffee made with coffee beans from Beloso Farms in Brazil, and a special “barista’s milk” designed to produce silky coffee with great flavor. The servings are huge, and the prices very wallet-friendly. You’ll find basic coffee drinks, like the popular Iced Americano that all the K-pop and K-drama celebs seem to be drinking, as well as other espresso-based drinks.
Check out the interesting lattes on the menu that range from Condensed Milk Latte, Chocolate Latte, Green Tea Latte, and even Black Pearl Latte. There’s also a delicious selection of Paiksccino available as drink or ice cream, as well as yogurt smoothes, ice creams and milk shake.
We can’t wait for the pastries to available soon!
