Take your cue from The “Queen of Tablescaping,” Pinky Tobiano, together with special guest, Cat Arambulo who put their own spin on the art of table setting. Together, they entertained with elegant table settings that were showcased during a Mother’s Day-themed event, Festa della Mamma, the fashionable high tea soiree hosted by Opulence Design Concept at The Podium Mall.

At the Festa della Mama, three unique tablescape setups took the attendees on a vicarious tour of Italy by featuring elegant tableware collections that gave them a taste of the various regions of the country.

Set A Fabulous Table

Inspired to do this at home? Consider these tablescaping tips, and you’ll be creating your picture-perfect table setting in no time:

1. Plan ahead. Know what sort of event you’d like to create, and own it. Would you like it to be more intimate and personal? What are the color combinations? How many guests are coming? Planning all the elements will allow you to host well with the mastery of the event’s details. It will also leave you room for improvisation when you need it.

2. Creating a tablescape is just like working on a piece of art. You start with a blank canvas, then you layer it on with the elements. Choose the right backdrop for your theme. Is it a floral tablecloth? Perhaps if you’re going ethnic, employ a woven textile. Going rustic? Consider laying these elements onto your bare wooden table to show off its natural grain. The backdrop sets the tone for the composition.

3. Layer on the table’s elements: china, glassware, silverware and stemware. Remember the rules of table setting when you do.

4. Add texture by incorporating foliage and blooms. They have the power to make your table feel festive, solemn, restrained or fun. Depending on their colors and arrangement in vases or your choice of containers, flowers and greenery can take on a casual or formal air, emphasizing the event’s meaning.

5. Introduce elements that add height to visually elevate some of your table's key details, but avoid putting anything on the table that will make it difficult for guests to see each other from across the table.
