Starring <strong>Kim Dami</strong>, <strong>Son Sukku</strong>,<strong></strong> <strong>Kim Sungkyun</strong>, and <strong>Hyun Bongsik</strong>, <em>Nine Puzzles</em> presents an exciting tool for storytelling, giving viewers a pattern to latch on to while surprising them with unexpected twists and turns.</p><p>Director<strong> Yoon Jongbin</strong> described <em>Nine Puzzles</em>, saying, “It’s about two very unique individuals trying to uncover the truth behind a series of serial murders and the forces behind it.” </p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:700px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17485979320300514 나인퍼즐 제보_0579-1.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner">Director Yoon Jongbin</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>The 11-episode series features Kim Dami as <strong>Yoon Ena</strong>, a profiler who, ten years ago, saw her uncle murdered at home, where she found a puzzle piece beside him. With the traumatic incident leaving her with no memory of what transpired that night, she becomes the primary suspect of Detective <strong>Kim Hansaem </strong>(played by Son Sukku). </p><p>In the series, viewers can see a different side of Kim Dami as an actress, as she explores a new genre in her repertoire. It’s the newness of her character—an “unconventional profiler”—that also drew her to the project. “I thought [the character is] really smart and really different from other profilers out there. Aside from being director Yoon Jongbin’s fan, Son Sukku said during <em>Nine Puzzles</em>’ press conference that the script was also a big factor as to why he chose to be part of this project. </p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:700px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17485981292500514 나인퍼즐 제보_0334-1.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner">Son Sukku and Kim Dami</span></span></span></div><div style="text-align:left"> </div><p>“He’s a straightforward guy, very passionate about his job, and enjoys solving mysteries,” Son Sukku said of Hansaem. “He tends to show a lot of his genuine self throughout. But deep within, he wishes to be a genius like Ena… He’s like a wannabe Ena.” </p><p>Kim Sungkyun, who plays <strong>Yang Jungho</strong> (the captain of the Homicide Division of Hangang Police Station), echoed Son Sukku’s thought about the script, saying that “it is so good.” Thankful for the role he was given in <em>Nine Puzzles</em>, he shared that this project also marked his reunion with director Yoon Jongbin, whom he worked with in his debut film, <em>Nameless Gangster</em>, in 2012. </p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:700px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17485982139320514 나인퍼즐 제보_0586-1.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner">Kim Sungkyun</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>“He’s a central character in this big, compelling story. There’s a lot to look forward to his story arc,” Kim Sungkyun shared about Yang Jungho.  </p><p>Completing the power team of <em>Nine Puzzles</em> is Hyun Bongsik’s<strong> Choi San</strong>, a junior homicide detective who works alongside Detective Hansaem and is often in charge of checking CCTV footage. But we agree with Hyun Bongsik that there’s an element of fun in <em>Nine Puzzle</em><em>s</em>, whether it’s the over-the-top and childlike personality of Ena, Ena’s dynamics with Hansaem, or the way the team uncovers crucial information to complete the puzzle. Part of the fun is also formulating theories about the culprit and the backstories of each character. All these elements considered, in my book, <em>Nine Puzzles</em> easily gets a nine out of ten rating. </p><p>Watch and see if you will be able to guess the culprit, or if the twist is something you saw coming. </p><div><strong><em>Nine Puzzles is now streaming on Disney+, with episodes 10 and 11 to be released on June 4. </em></strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Photos courtesy of<strong> Disney+</strong></p>
