Metro x MYX VJ Special: Ella Regudo

Meet VJ <strong>Ella Regudo</strong>—one of the newest faces of the Gen MYX. </p><p>“I just really want to be authentic or genuine <em>sa mga tao</em>. Quirky, witty, and just overall <em>madaldal</em>. &#x27;<em>Yun talaga &#x27;yung gusto kong ipakita sa mga tao</em>. And of course, my love for music as well,” said Ella when asked about the kind of branding she hopes to embrace. </p><p>For her, becoming a VJ wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment dream. Rather, it was something she tucked in her heart as a ten-year-old, waiting for the day she’d finally be old enough to audition. “<em>Nu’ng</em> time <em>na ‘yun</em>, <em>‘pag nag</em>-<em>mi</em>-MYX VJ Search <em>sila</em>, <em>ina</em>-announce <em>talaga nila ‘yun sa</em> TV <em>kung saan ka mag</em>-audition, <em>kung ano &#x27;yung</em> qualifications.<em> Laging nakalagay</em>, ‘must be 18 to 24 years old.’ I was like 10, 11, <em>ganu’n</em>. The pandemic hit just as she came of age, and the dream had to take a backseat. Instead, she explored digital content creation, dabbled in radio with Adamson University&#x27;s <strong>Falcon Radio</strong>, and sharpened her hosting skills through <strong>UAAP</strong> events and mentorships. Then, when MYX opened auditions again, she didn’t think twice.</p><p>“<em>Parang</em> for me, <em>hindi na kailangan mag-isip. </em><em>Hindi na ako nagdalawang isip</em>. <em>Kailangan ko talagang mag</em>-audition for MYX. <em>Kasi</em> even if <em>hindi ako matanggap</em>, I should at least try. I owe it to myself <em>na hinintay ko pang mag</em>-18 years old <em>ako para lang mag</em>-audition,” she confessed.</p><p>While on-screen charm comes naturally to her, Ella acknowledged she’s still learning the ropes: “<em>Hindi ako naging ganu’n ka</em>-prepared <em>nu’ng una.</em> <em>Parang</em> in my head,<em> gusto ko lang i</em>-try <em>pero hindi talaga ako</em> confident <em>na makukuha ko</em>. And<em> ako rin sa sarili ko</em>,<em></em> <em>nagre</em>-reflect <em>din ako</em> after interviews. <em>Pinapanood ko talaga ‘yung mga</em> [clip] <em>ko</em> and where I think I should improve on,” Ella said, further sharing that she listens to podcasts for guidance and advice.</p><p>Now, as one of the freshest faces on MYX, Ella carries more than just the title of VJ—she carries the torch for a new generation of music lovers. But stepping into this role isn’t without its hurdles. “The most challenging part right now, as a VJ, is taking part in reintroducing MYX post-pandemic. Personally, a lot of people would still ask me, ‘<em>Ano ‘yung </em>MYX?’ especially, the younger ones <em>na hindi na nila masyado naabutan ang</em> MYX in its prime <em>talaga</em>,” Ella admitted.</p><p>Ella sees her role not just as a host, but as an arch between eras, genres, and generations, stating, “As VJs, I know <em>hindi lang siya </em>part <em>ng</em> marketing team, <em>hindi lang siya problem ng</em> social media team. MYX Global <em>na tayo</em>, so <em>mayroon na rin tayo sa ibang bansa</em>. Ella couldn’t help but gush over <strong>Stray Kids</strong>—specifically <strong>Felix</strong>—and the boys of One Direction, and her favorite artist as of the moment, NIKI.</p><p>To the OGs, the longtime fans, Ella shared a warm message: “MYX is definitely back with a new generation of VJs, with a new generation of music and artists. So it is something that they definitely should look forward to. And I know a lot of people say it&#x27;s not the same as before.
