From her biggest hit “Ikaw” to her latest release “Lumulutang Nahuhulog,” Yeng is evolving while embracing her signature style, proving that her artistry is just as powerful as ever.</p><p>Yeng describes her latest single as a reflection of her current mindset in her craft: “experimental.” She said that Yengsters already know just how much she loves playing with various sounds, and “Lumulutang Nahuhulog“ is a product of that exploration and experimentation, one that she worked on with a different producer.</p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe style="border-radius:12px" src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/0ckRcwREiS7up4mSiGxug1?utm_source=generator" width="100%" height="352" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div><div><br/></div><p>”<em>Parang ‘yung </em>‘Babala’ <em>na ni</em>-release <em>ko</em> last year, <em>parang</em> pop-punk<em> naman ’yun</em>.<em></em> This one, <em>may pagka</em>-hiphop <em>na</em> <em>parang </em>bass-driven, minimalist ’<em>yung areglo</em>. I really like that,” Yeng told <strong>Metro.Style</strong>. You can say that Yeng has always been an experimental artist—from ballads like ”<strong>Hawak Kamay</strong>” to catchy anthems like “<strong>Chinito</strong>” and ”<strong>Jeepney Love Story</strong>.” Her music journey is proof of how big her heart for music is, and no matter the genre, she never fails to hit the charts. </p><p>Yeng, for a fact, is a music icon to many. But what if she passes the mic to a younger artist? Could she mentor a rising star into someone just as iconic? Well, she tried, then realized that mentoring might not be for her, perhaps for now. As much as she pours her soul into making music, it takes something different to help carve someone else’s path.</p><p>“<em>Alam mo, tinry ko</em>. <em>Hindi pala akong magaling mag</em>-mentor,” she said, laughing. Yeng is honest that even as a songwriter, she struggles to teach and communicate. “Okay <em>ako ka-kwentuhan pero</em> as a mentor, <em>parang labo-labo.</em> More on, <em>siguro</em>, if I see younger artists and they would ask me questions, it&#x27;s better that way than <em>parang talagang mag-alaga</em>,” Yeng explained.</p><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1750923386269DSC07700a.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div style="text-align:center"><br/></div><p>Mentoring has been a long aspiration of hers. But as Yeng candidly put it, saying it is one thing, and doing it is another. “It’s an obligation to really take care of people,” she admitted, acknowledging that mentoring someone means more than just teaching; it’s about committing to their growth. </p><p>It has been years since we last saw Yeng collaborate with another artist, three to be exact. Yeng’s last collaboration dates back to February 2022, when she partnered with <strong>Gloc‑9 </strong>for their single “<strong>Paliwanag</strong>,” marking their first collab in over a decade since their 2011 track “<strong>Bugtong</strong>.” Since then, she’s focused on experimenting with solo singles such as “<strong>Babala</strong>” and “<strong>Kung Uulitin</strong>” in 2024.</p><p>It’s time Yeng collaborates with other artists, and without hesitation, <strong>December Avenue </strong>is at the top of her list. “December Ave, <em>gusto ko talaga e</em>,” she revealed.
