<p>Taking a break is no longer a luxury in this day and age; it&#x27;s a necessity. Being connected 24/7, barely putting our smartphones down, and living a rushed lifestyle can take a toll on the mind and body, making it even more essential for real, deep rest. </p><p>Rest, while most of us associate it with physical sleep, can also mean detaching ourselves from our usual environment and going away, even for just a day, to refresh our senses. Such is the case when I visited <a href="https://www.anyaresorts.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Anya Resort in Tagaytay</a> to experience their <strong>Niyama Wellness Day Retreat</strong>, a program designed for resetting the mind and body via soul-nourishing activities. </p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded" style="width:700px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/175023335324820230511-MICP2798.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/><span class="fr-inner">Anya Resort Tagaytay</span></span></span></div><p>Situated in a quiet spot in <strong>Tagaytay</strong>, Anya Resort is a haven for peace and quiet, just about an hour and a half away from bustling Manila. One Wednesday, I checked into the resort a little before lunchtime and got myself ready for an overnight stay filled with rest and relaxation. First on the agenda was a quick health check at the Niyama Wellness Center, where the staff recorded my blood pressure, weight, and BMI. I was given a quick assessment and was also allowed to share my wellness practices and lifestyle, all in order to help me improve them further. </p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1750234221852Wellness Day at Anya SNS Post 2.png" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/></div><p>After that, it was time to check into my room, a spacious one-bedroom villa with a living room and a balcony that overlooked the entire property. It was truly exciting to be in my own home away from home, even for just one night. If you&#x27;re like me, then you&#x27;d agree that enjoying a luxurious hotel bed is a vacation in and of itself. </p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1750235159157DSC02782.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/></div><p>Soon it was time for lunch. I had the pleasure of sampling delectable dishes from <strong>Anila</strong> restaurant&#x27;s <strong>Soul Menu</strong>, curated and created by <strong>Cinty Yniguez</strong>, a Plant-Based &amp; Raw Vegan Wellness Chef &amp; Consultant, Recipe &amp; Menu Designer, and Yoga Teacher.</p><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded" style="width:700px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1750235432438SnapInsta.to_494425878_1125044899665835_8373319459510119850_n.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/><span class="fr-inner">Soul Menu by Cinty Yniguez</span></span></span></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded" style="width:700px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1750235883336Soul Menu.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/><span class="fr-inner" spellcheck="false">My sumptuous pescatarian lunch was one for the books! Clockwise: Vietnamese Spring Rolls with Spicy Peanut Dipping Sauce, Anya Nicoise Salad with Seared Tuna Loin, White Bean Puree and Garlic Sauteed Mushrooms, and the mouthwatering Miso Mushroom Burger—a must try!</span></span></span></div><p>I&#x27;ve tried some of Cinty Yniguez&#x27;s creations in the past via her brand Naked Foods, so I knew I was in for a treat. The Soul Menu boasts a plant-forward lineup that highlights the beautiful flavors of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, some seafood, and dairy. Those on a gluten-free diet can also enjoy their fare, as they have alternatives for dishes that serve bread or pasta. </p><p>The lunch menu was a set course that consisted of Vietnamese Spring Rolls with Spicy Peanut Dipping Sauce, Anya Nicoise Salad with Seared Tuna Loin, White Bean Puree and Garlic Sauteed Mushrooms, and the mouthwatering Miso Mushroom Burger. For drinks, I sampled their Signature Green Juice (spinach, orange, green apple, ginger, pineapple), and Root Boost (beetroot, orange, carrots, turmeric, ginger). Both were equally delicious and refreshing, and every bite and sip left me feeling nourished deep down within.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1750238174482July 4 - MICP2800 (1).jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/></div><p>After that delicious lunch, I walked around and went back to the room for a much-needed afternoon siesta. A retreat, after all, calls for afternoon power naps! Soon after that delightful snooze, it was time for a visit to the Niyama Wellness Center for a 20-minute Infrared Sauna session, a Tai Chi session, and a massage. Another treat was up ahead, as I was set to try <strong>Chef Chele Gonzalez</strong>&#x27;s <strong>Samira</strong> tasting menu—one that people travel for. The restaurant is cozy and casually elegant. </div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded" style="width:700px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1750488559862MICP2916.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/><span class="fr-inner">Samira by Chef Chele Gonzalez</span></span></span></div><p>The 5-course menu included the following delectable bites: Smoked Salmon &amp; Asparagus Pintxos, Roasted Bell Pepper Tacos, House Smoked Tanigue Salad, a choice of Flash Fried Local Seabass or Pan Seared Citrus Salmon, then Buko Pie in Texture and Fresh Fruit Platter for dessert. This was such a treat, as every bite burst with delicious flavors. Knowing that so much care was put into creating each dish made it all the more special. I highly recommend Samira for those visiting Tagaytay, not just those staying in the hotel. I value sleep a lot, so I took advantage of the early end to the day and the comfortable bed. My sleep was uninterrupted, it was deep and restorative, making me ready and recharged to face a new day. A trip to the Anya <strong>Sensory Garden</strong> is also a must, as it&#x27;s where you will find their very own planted herbs, some,e fruits and vegetables, and adorable little rabbits.
