Freeform writing. As a detox for the mind, Chris swears by this raw, 12-minute brain dump exercise where you scribble every thought without filter, and then, quite literally, burn the page. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Transcendental meditation</strong></div><p>Life on the road doesn’t leave much room for calm, but Chris carves it out with transcendental meditation. Commonly used to clear mental fog, this practice involves silently repeating a mantra that is deeply centering. “[It] has been really wonderful for me,” he revealed.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Proprioception to rewire brain-body balance</strong></div><p>One lesser-known gem in his wellness kit is proprioception. Though originally developed for neurodiverse individuals, its rhythm-based exercises and sensory techniques are useful for anyone needing emotional regulation and mental clarity.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Sound healing</strong></div><p>No surprise here, of course, music remains a healing force for a musician himself. Chris recommends Jon Hopkins’ studio album “Music for Psychedelic Therapy”—a sweeping, ambient soundscape designed to support deep relaxation and reflection. He’s also been uplifted by rising artist Chloe Qisha, whose music he says is “making me happy right now.”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Breathwork from a book</strong></div><p>The Oxygen Advantage, a book about optimizing breathwork, has been another key resource. The techniques help reduce anxiety, improve focus, and even support stage performance. For Chris, “this is great for breathing.”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Movies as medicines</strong></div><p>Sometimes, healing looks like sitting down and hitting ‘play.’ Just like us, Chris has also been turning to movies as medicine. One of his recent favorites? Sing Sing—a 2023 stirring film based on a true story, following a group of incarcerated men who find healing and redemption through a prison theater program.</p>
