One of these is <strong>urinary incontinence</strong>.</p><p>Bringing the conversation front and center is <strong>Dr. Jennifer Jose</strong>, <strong>uro-gynecologist and President of the Aesthetic Gynecology Society of the Philippines</strong>. At a recent event hosted by <strong>Intima V</strong> and <strong>BTL</strong> and aptly called<strong> The Core to Floor Revolution</strong>,<strong></strong> Dr. Jose spoke candidly about how to prevent and treat urinary incontinence, which was the main focus of the program.</p><div> </div><div><strong>The Core to Floor Approach</strong></div><p>The treatment pairs two advanced, non-invasive technologies: <strong>Emsculpt Neo</strong> for the core <strong></strong>and<strong> Emsella </strong>for the pelvic floor.<strong></strong></p><p>Emsculpt Neo uses radio frequency (RF) and high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to reduce fat and build muscle in the abdomen. Emsella, on the other hand, uses HIFEM technology to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles, restoring neuromuscular control and improving urinary incontinence.</p><p>Dr. Jose illustrated the reality of the condition: “When you cough, when you sneeze, when you laugh, you leak urine. Another one is when you feel like you need to go to the washroom, and you do not make it in time, you leak before getting there.”</p><p>She went on to explain how urinary incontinence can impact daily life. “You get up several times a night. Of course, it bothers your sleep and how you conduct your day.”</p><p>The condition can be triggered by age, childbirth, weakened pelvic floor muscles, or even certain medications. “Normally, what we do is give medication to treat infection because usually the bladder gets irritated when you have an infection, so sometimes you lose control,” Dr. Jose explained.</p><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1754895399545pexels-roman-odintsov-8528273.jpg" style="width:600px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/></div><div> </div><div><strong>How It Works</strong></div><p>Dr. Jose likens the anatomy to plumbing: “I see the bladder as a balloon, the urethra as the pipe, and the pelvic floor muscle as the one that holds everything. This therapy strengthens the pelvic floor muscles, so they develop the right tone.”</p><p>With Emsella, the patient simply sits on the device while it delivers the equivalent of 11,200 Kegels in 28 minutes. “Can you do that?” Dr. Jose asked the audience with a smile.</p><p>Emsculpt Neo complements the treatment by strengthening the core. “Not only for beautification and aesthetic purposes,” she said. “It dissolves fat and hypertrophies the muscle. This strengthens the core and boosts confidence. It also makes you feel firmer.”</p><p>The recommended protocol is <strong>six Emsella sessions, twice a week for three weeks, with each session lasting 28 minutes. She had been using the washroom around 30 times a day. “Whenever I laugh, talk, sneeze, or exercise, since I am a tennis player, it happens. It is really embarrassing. I have to mind what I wear.”</p><p>Her urinary incontinence also led to a more serious issue. “I would get recurrent UTIs, at least four times a year. Sometimes it was so bad they had to bring me to the ER.”</p><p>She described her Emsella experience: “As soon as you sit on the chair, you feel a deep, rapid muscle contraction in your pelvis. There is a pulsing sensation, but it is not painful.
