TJ Monterde, KZ Tandingan, and John Prats Look Back on "Sarili Nating Mundo" World Tour

They say traveling together allows people to get to know each other better. Such is the case for power couple TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan. Going on a world tour together for TJ’s “Sarili Nating Mundo” series of shows has strengthened their relationship like no other experience can. “Super thankful kami sa Panginoon na we get to do this together,” TJ told Metro.Style. “Kasi hindi kami pang-long distance talagang dalawa; we&#x27;re a clingy couple.”If they didn’t do this together, KZ interjected in jest, “Away lang siguro kami nang away.”Through the “Sarili Nating Mundo” concert series, TJ and KZ also found a friend for keeps in director John Prats. TJ’s collaboration with John started from the “Palagi” hitmaker’s “Sarili Nating Mundo” concert at the New Frontier Theater in May 2024. John recalled, “Basta natatandaan ko na ’yung sinabi ni TJ sa akin, ‘Direk, ikaw na bahala kasi tatayo lang talaga ako.’” <div> </div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1759828394444john prats tj monterde kz tandingan.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/>Photo by Grace Libero-Cruz</div><div> </div>Coming from the success of the sold-out, two-night concert, the world tour of “Sarili Nating Mundo” was announced, kicking off with a three-night sold-out concert at The Big Dome in February this year. As the world tour comes to a close, the amazing trio looks back on the experience fondly, reflecting on their growth and the bond that becomes stronger with every show. &quot;Literal, &#x27;pag wala kaming SNM sa weekend, sa week na &#x27;yun, or mga two weeks na, parang may mali. Maghahanapan kami. Sobrang naging close na rin kami talaga na halos lahat ng mga plano namin sa buhay, kunwari, kami ni KZ may plano kaming ganito, &#x27;Uy, Direk, ano&#x27;ng ginawa n&#x27;yo sa ganitong mga aspeto ng life n&#x27;yo?&#x27; Naging super close na rin kami,&quot; TJ shared during the #SNMWorldTour Grand Finale Presscon.John specifically complimented TJ for his evolution as a performer, saying, “Naging mas collaborative na siya. Ngayon, hindi na siya nakatayo [lang], tumatakbo na siya sa stage. Kasing-likot na rin niya si KZ!”“’Yung kembot na lang talaga ang hinihintay namin,” KZ joked. TJ, KZ, and John have a treasure trove of memories from this world tour—a historic six 2-day legs, 22 sold-out shows so far out of 40 big stages. Most are good, but there were also unexpected things that came up since they were live events, after all. John recalled, “May one song talaga doon na nawalan ng audio sa house, so si TJ, tuloy-tuloy lang kumakanta, pero naka-monitors lang siya, pero hindi namin siya naririnig sa house. So s’yempre medyo nag-panic kami… Natapos ’yung song pero nanghinayang kami kasi kumbaga nanakawan ng isang song ang mga tao.”<div> </div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1759829012817IMG_9726.JPG" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/>Photo courtesy of Cornerstone</div><div> </div>After the show, they went back to their dressing room and, though no one was specifically at fault then, TJ and John couldn’t help but express their frustrations. “TJ was so frustrated because sobrang gusto niyang maging maganda ’yung show tapos kami talaga sobrang medyo negatron na kami ni TJ. Naiinis na kami,” John continued. “Tapos si KZ hinatak kaming dalawa sa CR, tapos sabi niya, ‘Sandali lang, huwag tayong [magpapaapekto] sa mga evil evil na ganyan. Let&#x27;s pray tapos nag-pray kaming tatlo du’n. Ang ganda lang ng moment na, s’yempre, at the end of the day, tao ka rin, nagagalit ka rin, na-fru-frustate ka rin. Pero may isang tao talaga na humahatak sa amin na, ‘Wait lang. Hinga lang tayo. Magdasal tayo. Hindi natin ito gusto. May purpose ito.&#x27;”KZ added that their production team is also the one that really goes through challenges, but she’s thankful that they have established a healthy working environment, with a passionate team dedicated to giving the best to TJ’s fans, the Bituins. “We&#x27;re just really grateful na the team that we have ay parang a pool of super talented and passionate people na ’pag may problema na nangyayari, ‘Sige, ako na ’yan, ako na ’yan, gagawan ko ng paraan.’ So hindi lumalaki ’yung problema. Imbes na tinatambayan ’yung problema o pinalalaki, lahat nagchi-chip in para pagaanin ’yung struggle, ’yung problema, and to always make it seem like the problems don&#x27;t even matter when we&#x27;re doing the show kasi ang top priority namin talaga is for the people to enjoy the show and for them to come home and masabi nila na, ‘Okay, worth it ’yung pinaghirapan ko na binayad ko du’n sa show.”<div> </div><div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1759829417686TJ X KZ Upcoming concert.JPG" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div> </div>“Sarili Nating Mundo” world tour is now down to its last four shows: October 11 in Auckland, New Zealand; October 12 in Sydney, Australia; October 17 in Perth, Australia; and finally, December 2 at the 321 Sports Arena in Abu Dhabi. All shows were successfully mounted by some of the leading producers—Cornerstone Concerts, NTJ Entertainment Production, EKG Productions, Enigma Events &amp; Production, Inc., Ad Gateway Inc., and CNCA—while also being the latest Filipino show produced by top global concert producers Live Nation and The Filipino Channel (TFC).“Ang sarap to work with friends,” John concluded, sharing that he’s glad he, TJ, and KZ have found that balance between having fun as friends but also maintaining respect for each other’s time and work. While this world tour embarks on its final chapter, here’s something to look forward to: more performances of TJ and KZ together, as they are set to hold a yet-to-be-named two-night concert at the Araneta Coliseum on February 6 and 7, 2026. The director?
