Others unfold in front of you like a scene written by fate itself, so vivid and surreal that even now, weeks after, you replay them in your mind just to make sure they truly happened. The <strong>Netflix</strong> fan event in <strong>Jakarta</strong> for <strong><em>Can This Love Be Translated? </em></strong>was one of those moments for me—not just as a content creator invited by <strong>Netflix Philippines</strong>, but as a long-time fan whose heart has followed <strong></strong>Kim Seonho’s journey for years.</p><p>I was deeply grateful to be invited as one of the Southeast Asia (SEA) influencer delegates to join Netflix’s talent tour in Jakarta, Indonesia, for the recently released series <em>Can This Love Be Translated?</em> starring<strong> Kim Seonho</strong> and <strong>Go Youn Jung</strong>. It was part of a series of global promotions for the show, following an earlier fan event in Seoul on January 13, where I had also been fortunate enough to participate. To be included again, this time in Jakarta, felt like an unexpected gift. On the evening of January 16, the fan event took place at Kota Kasablanka Mall, with more than 2,000 fans attending from across Indonesia and beyond. The energy in the venue was electric, filled with anticipation, laughter, and the soft hum of hearts beating just a little faster.</p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1768958140450embed_CTLBT_Fan Event_1.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><p><em>Can This Love Be Translated?</em> tells the story of <strong>Joo Hojin</strong>, a multilingual interpreter played by Kim Seonho, and<strong> Cha Muhee</strong>, a globally famous actress portrayed by Go Youn Jung. Their paths cross borders and languages, unfolding a romance shaped by travel, misunderstanding, and emotional translation in more ways than one. The series moves through Japan, South Korea, Canada, and Italy, reflecting both the physical journeys of the characters and the inner journeys that bring them closer together. At its core, it is a story about communication, vulnerability, and the courage to open one’s heart across cultural and emotional distances.</p><p>For me, this trip to Jakarta with Netflix carried an even deeper meaning. I first became a fan of Kim Seonho during the height of the pandemic, when <em><strong>Start-Up</strong></em> became a comfort series in uncertain times. Then came<strong><em> Hometown Cha Cha Cha</em></strong>, where his warmth and sincerity as Hong Dusik captured hearts around the world, including mine. Since then, my support has grown into something steadfast and deeply personal. I followed his theater plays, attended countless stage greetings for his films, and traveled across countries for every stop of his Asia fan meeting tour from December 2022 until late 2024. We danced the <strong>Do Ra Mi</strong> choreography, inspired by Cha Muhee’s iconic movie role within the series that launched her character to global stardom. The dance was playful and slightly zombie-like, and laughter filled the venue as we moved in sync, easing everyone into the night’s joyful atmosphere.</p><p>The red carpet opened with actresses and social media icons from across Southeast Asia gracing the venue, each arrival met with cheers and camera flashes. Then, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived. Kim Seonho and Go Youn Jung entered together, hands briefly joined as they formed a four-leaf clover pose that sent waves of excitement through the crowd. It was a simple gesture, yet it spoke volumes about their partnership and set the tone for a night filled with warmth and charm.</p><p>Hosted by Indonesia’s renowned emcee Indra Herlambang, the event unfolded with natural ease. On stage, Kim Seonho and Go Youn Jung shared stories about filming the series, attempted Indonesian phrases with endearing sincerity, and recreated cute emoji poses that delighted fans. What struck me most was how comfortable they seemed with each other. Their chemistry, so evident on screen, was even more tangible in person. As clips played and anecdotes were shared, it truly felt like traveling alongside Joo Hojin and Cha Muhee, watching their love grow across borders and cultures.</p><p>Then came the segment that would forever remain etched in my memory.</p><p>For the<strong> Telepathy Game</strong>, Kim Seonho and Go Youn Jung were asked to select four lucky fans from the audience, two each. As Kim Seonho scanned the crowd, I raised my hand and called his name with every ounce of hope I had. I wanted him to see me, not because I wanted the spotlight, but because I wanted him to know that I was still there, still supporting him, still cheering for every step of his journey.</p><p>He searched carefully, his gaze moving slowly across the sea of faces. Then, as he looked toward our section, he said, “Ah, there. The one dressed like Joo Hojin. My long-time fan that I know.” For a moment, I froze. Surely, there must be others wearing similar outfits. Surely, I was mistaken. The noise around me softened, and I could feel hundreds of eyes turning toward me, urging me to stand. My hands trembled as I rose, still unable to process what was happening. Kim Seonho had not only seen me in a crowd of thousands, but he had also recognized me, remembered me, and spoken my name.</p><p>I waved back instinctively and greeted him, “Annyeong haseyo, Kim Seonho baeunim.” He smiled and waved in return. It felt unreal, like standing inside a dream I never dared to imagine.</p><p>As the emcee explained the game mechanics in Indonesian, I struggled to follow. He paused and asked if I was from Indonesia. Before I could answer, Kim Seonho gently said, “[He’s from the] Philippines.”</p><p>That simple sentence moved me more than words can describe. In front of thousands, he acknowledged where I came from, as if quietly saying, I see you, I remember you, you belong here too. In that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and connection. It was not just recognition. It was a testament to the sincerity that has drawn so many to him over the years. As a <strong>Seonhohada</strong>, it was the greatest gift I could have received.</p><p>None of this would have been possible without Netflix Philippines. Their invitation opened a door I never knew existed, leading me to one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Opportunities like this do not simply create memories; they shape stories we carry with us forever.</p><p>As the night ended and the lights dimmed, I left the venue with a heart fuller than ever. I am excited to continue supporting Kim Seonho, to celebrate his work, and to share his journey with others in my own small ways.</p><p>All twelve episodes of<em> Can This Love Be Translated?</em> are now streaming on Netflix.
