When the weather is gloomy, I usually tune in to songs with lyrics and beats that quickly brighten up the day. <strong>Lenka</strong>’s songs, timelessly charming and whimsical with their vintage soul-pop sound, are among those I constantly played when I was younger. </p><p>Till today, songs like “<strong>The Show</strong>,” “<strong>Bring Me Down</strong>,” “<strong>Two</strong>,” and “<strong>Everything At Once</strong>” never fail as mood boosters. Her tracks combine upbeat musicality and lyrical optimism, providing comfort and setting a sunny backdrop with its specific sonic aesthetic. From the eponymous debut album of the Australian singer-songwriter in 2008 to 2023’s <strong><em>Instraspectral</em></strong> to this year’s <strong><em>Good Days</em></strong>, Lenka has incredibly maintained a balance between growth and sticking to a musical identity distinctly hers. </p><p>She has no qualms saying that she did not try to be experimental with her new album. Whenever an artist releases a new output, the question people always tend to ask is: &quot;What&#x27;s different?&quot; But new is not always synonymous with different. You can have something new, yet it feels familiar. That&#x27;s what Lenka&#x27;s <em>Good Days</em> feels like. In fact, Lenka told <strong>Metro.Style</strong>, &quot;I have been a bit more experimental for my last few records, and moving into a little bit like electronic synth pop, or like a bit of a sound from the 80s or the 70s or folk and moody kind of weird music. Because I love doing that, too. It&#x27;s like her songs from 2008 time-traveled to 2026, and we&#x27;re not complaining. I welcome the generous dose of happy pill I&#x27;ve always relied on Lenka&#x27;s songs to deliver. That&#x27;s what Lenka tried to do <em>and </em>achieved <em></em>with <em>Good Days</em>. <em></em></p><p>I grew up with her songs, and now, like Lenka, I&#x27;m a mom, too. And major life changes like that significantly influence one&#x27;s perspective, just like it did for Lenka. Her new album, released via Skipalong Records, is a profound reflection of motherhood and her new perspectives on life that brought about a renewed sense of optimism. </p><p>&quot;I started writing these lyrics when I was on a walk with my kids. As usual, I had been trying to sugar-coat some terrible news from the world, keeping a sunny disposition whilst feeling down-hearted. Truth be told, I am a moody bitch, but with a life-long attempt at projecting and manifesting optimism,&quot; shared Lenka.                                                         </p><p>Not one to mindlessly release songs just for the sake of doing so, Lenka finds inspiration in both the special and the mundane. In her creative process, she often finds herself asking: &quot;Where is my usefulness here?&quot; &quot;What is the best music that I can make for myself and for my fans?&quot; Asking these questions is necessary to stay on track. And every time, the answer she finds is that to view &quot;music as a bit of a magic spell.&quot; </p><p>&quot;Music is a powerful medicine. I feel like it&#x27;s something that can change your mood. It can change your life, and it can make things happen,&quot; Lenka emphasized. &quot;So, I wanted to make the kind of music that will bring good things into my life, and I can put it on, and it&#x27;s going to set the mood for the day.&quot;</p><p>The title track, &quot;Good Days,&quot; carries the album&#x27;s whole vibe. Hopefully, Lenka said, &quot;you can put it on, and it&#x27;s going to perform its magic spell and bring good things into your life.
