Shi Shi Reveals What Inspired Her New EP ‘The Taste Of…’ After Two-Year Hiatus

It&#x27;s not necessarily... very... It is hard to describe the feelings we feel every day using merely our words, but sometimes they can be expressed and digested in a song,” she added.</p><p><em>The Taste Of… </em>is Shi Shi’s first English-language EP. It features tracks in <strong>English</strong>, <strong>Mandarin</strong>, and <strong>Korean</strong>—a tribute to her South Korean roots and an important first step toward bringing her music to an international audience.</p><p>“In this EP, each track is like a unique cocktail, bringing a different flavour and taste profile, and a different composition of ingredients and emotions. I just didn&#x27;t release an album because, as I told everyone, I might not release an album that soon. I have released six albums so far, and I think I didn&#x27;t really take a rest for the past 10 or 12 years.&quot;</p><p>She then added, “So, I hope I can tell the audience the story of my story through the EP, but not in the whole... not with the whole album. So I&#x27;m still making more music for a single or EP, yeah. In the short time, I think I&#x27;m not doing the whole album again, I think. I love the demos’ pure emotions. So, these three producers, they all love the quick process,” Shi Shi shared.</p><p>parkhyeon has worked with <strong>MISAMO</strong> of <strong>TWICE</strong> and (<strong>G)I-DLE’s Miyeon</strong>,<strong> </strong>while Different Sleep has credits with artists such as <strong>Zara Larsson</strong> and <strong>Aminé</strong>. Because they connected so naturally during the songwriting stage, many of the songs retained the raw emotion of their earliest demo versions, with little need for major revisions.</p><p>Among the EP’s standout tracks are the Korean-language songs <strong>“</strong><strong>Falling in Love” </strong>and <strong>“Tteokbokki</strong>,<strong>” </strong>which offer some of the record’s most gentle and intimate moments.</p><p>With “Tteokbokki,” Shi Shi moves beyond her usual relationship-centered songwriting and turns to the idea of food as a vessel for memory. For her, it evokes youthful memories of walking home from school and spending time with friends in the warm, familiar setting of local eateries.</p><p>A third-generation South Korean-Chinese artist based in Taiwan, Shi Shi is a<strong> Golden Melody Awards</strong> winner for<strong> Best Female Singer</strong> and<strong> Best Album</strong>.
