In Conversation With "Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10" Big Winner Anji Salvacion
The “Singing Sweetheart of Siargao" chatted with us about her PBB journey, her fellow housemates, her life's current soundtrack, and more!
Having been hailed as the Big Winner of Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10, singer, actress, and aspiring songwriter Anji Salvacion took the lead by landslide in the recently-concluded reality competition. She earned the audience’s approval with a total individual tally of 40.42% in the public poll.
“To be given this title is a higher calling from God,” she told Metro.Style. “'Yung parang greatest blessing ko in life, it is not the title, but it is the trust of the people, who really, really poured out their hearts just to help me.”

Her "Pinoy Big Brother" journey
Anji once auditioned for Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) when she was in Grade 9, but she did not get in. Despite the failed attempt, though, her determination never waned. She auditioned multiple times until she finally secured a spot in showbiz. “I auditioned for PBB po kasi it has been one of my biggest dreams din po—to become a housemate of Kuya,” she says, adding that she’s always been a fan of PBB and the Big Winner journeys of Kim Chiu, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, and Maymay Entrata.

While her first weeks in the house were challenging as she struggled to speak up and dealt with self-doubt, it did not stop her from nurturing herself to become better. She may have endured several eviction threats, but she did not wallow in them. She pushed further, persevered, and reached the dream she’s been waiting for. “I found my purpose in life because of PBB,” she shares with Metro.Style. “Kuya helped me find myself again.”

Soaring to stardom
Anji’s showbiz background dates back to 2019 when she started off in the singing contest “Idol Philippines.” Her career began to blossom in an attempt to find her long-lost father whom she has not had come in contact with since he left Siargao where she hails from. She auditioned and sang Christina Perri’s hit song, “Jar of Hearts,” and people were stunned by her performance.

While she did not win in the said talent platform, her television exposure allowed her to extend her abilities as a background actor and bit player in commercials. She was also cast for a regular role in iWantTFC miniseries “Unloving U.” Being multifaceted, she was soon invited to a squad of ABS-CBN artists called Squad Plus, an extension of the widely popular group Gold Squad with Andrea Brillantes, Seth Fedelin, Francine Diaz, and Kyle Echarri. As a member of the group, opportunities have poured in one after another.

A high regard for her fellow housemates
In her interview with Metro.Style, she shared that although she was hailed the Big Winner, she never failed to notice and admire the assets of her fellow housemates. When asked whom she considers as her toughest contender, she answers: “All of them! I never underestimated anybody. Everybody was so strong, and everybody’s giving different spices in that house.”

Her life’s current soundtrack
Now a recording artist, Anji has released a number of songs and even held her very own virtual concert. Her self-composed single, “Dalampasigan,” is what she sets as her life’s current soundtrack. According to the singer-actress, the dalampasigan is where she has first felt love. “Sa dalampasigan ako unang natutong magmahal,” she said.

Having been brought up on a small island in Siargao, she pays tribute to her province when she was in the house longing for her hometown. “Dalampasigan is my family. It’s the love of my family. They are with me and they’re fighting with me and they’ll always love me ’cause their love is my home.”

Humbled by the great honor that was granted to her, the “Singing Sweetheart of Siargao” would always greet her fans and family with appreciation and gratitude, thanking them for the support that they have showered her throughout her race to the top. “You guys are such a blessing from God—such beautiful souls I have in my life,” she concluded.
