#MetroStyleWatch: The Best Dressed Ladies At The 2024 Met Gala

Here are our favorite Sleeping Beauties of the night!

The Met Gala is one of the biggest events in the fashion calendar. Every year, stars gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate the Costume Institute exhibition, the most precious fashion archive in the whole world. This year’s theme is titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and the official dress code is “The Garden of Time”.

Tapping into their inner Sleeping Beauties, Metro’s Best Dressed women brought out the most magical archival and custom looks of the night.

Zendaya’s two Met Gala carpet ensembles look like costumes straight out of a storybook. Her first look is designed by Maison Margiela while the second look was an archival dress from 2007 by Alexander McQueen. Many archival looks took the spotlight this year. Kendall Jenner brought out the ultimate goth garden fantasy with her archival dress from Givenchy's 1999 collection by legend Alexander McQueen. In the '90s, the look was presented on a mannequin, making Kendall the first person to ever wear this masterpiece. Emma Chamberlain breathe life into an original Jean Paul Gaultier design while Lana Del Rey wore an interpretation of Alexander McQueen's Tree of Life look from his Fall 2006 collection.

The Best Dressed of the evening is none other than Elle Fanning. The actress commanded the room with her whimsical take on the dress code in custom Balmain. Elle donned a sculptural sheer gown that shimmered like water. It's also fitting to mention that Elle has starred as Sleeping Beauty herself in Disney's Maleficent. A full circle moment!
