Metro Talks With K-Pop Girl Group H1-KEY

In this season-specific record, the girls slid into a really carefree, enjoyable creative process that exudes the true essence of the summer season. Along with three other songs and the instrumental version of the title track, the 15-minute record takes you on a nostalgic reminiscence of that one unforgettable summer of your life, serving as your own personal soundtrack. </p><p>We all have those days when we need a picker-upper to vibe to. And sometimes, all it takes for us to feel lighter and better is playing a happy album to sing or dance along to. H1-KEY’s <em>[</em><em>Lovestruck]</em> <em></em>did that for us, serving as a ray of sunshine during the rainy season in Manila. <em></em></p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe width="925" height="525" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1NeLQ-Wl5QU?si=ds1Z0aMTmMBNeMmh" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><br/></div><p>“It is an album filled with brilliant memories of summer, which, I believe, many people can relate to,” SEOI shared. “It is filled with refreshing songs with summer vibes, so it’s the perfect album for this summer!” Perhaps it’s also the vibrance of the season reflected in the mini album that brings the energy and power to their recent stages, which clearly translates to the stage. Because of this, RIINA mentioned that their recent performances have been particularly enjoyable.</p><p>When asked about their top pick from the EP, it’s interesting that they have different favorites. RIINA believes that their discography reflects the members’ personalities—it makes sense to surmise that their choices give hints to their own characters, too. HWISEO, apart from the title track, is drawn to the charm of their vocals in “<strong>Let Me Be Your Se</strong><strong>a</strong>.” RIINA and SEOI, on the other hand, love “<strong>One, Two, Three, Four</strong>,<strong></strong>” which resonates with a campus love story. Finally, YEL went for “<strong>Good For U</strong>,” which she enjoys performing live.</p><p>If there was one thing that the gorgeous quartet collectively loved about the whole <em>[Lovestruck]</em> experience, it&#x27;s the Hwachae or Korean watermelon fruit punch they had during the filming of their ”Summer Was You” <strong></strong>music video. ”The thing that I always mention whenever we talk about this music video is Hwachae… It left the strongest impression on me,” YEL pointed out. The girls went on gushing about that scene in the valley, to which several firsts happened, like looking for flat rocks to sit on and trying to make themselves comfortable, only to get sore hips from it. From the same desire to work on things quickly to being particular with details and pushing for results that resemble the definition of perfect to them, it’s no wonder that these rising stars look well-coordinated yet relaxed. It also helps that they share the same sense of humor, which SEOI feels grateful for. “We are all about the same age,” she said. “When we are joking around, we always have fun together.”</p><p>HWISEO added, “All four of us are quite playful as well. And they’re open to exploring further, citing the recent hit <strong><em>KPop Demon Hunters</em></strong> as one of the concepts they want to try in the future. Think some hip-hop as well as some pop elements into their musicality—it’ll surely be an interesting side to show to their growing fanbase. Other netizens chimed in, complimenting the group and saying how nice their songs are, while hoping H1-KEY gets more golden opportunities to reach more people’s radar—because, really, they’re the overall package. They deserve all the love and support, not just during the summer, but also beyond and all year round. </p><p>With a new mini album in tow, we can expect a lot from H1-KEY in the coming months.
