Kristine Soguilon Celebrates Her 40th Birthday With "Velvet & Vines," an Art & Wine Exhibit Collaboration

<p>Artist <strong>Kristine Soguilon </strong>celebrated her 40th birthday last October 11 with the &quot;<strong>Velvet &amp; Vines</strong>&quot; art and wine exhibit in collaboration with <strong>Wine Story </strong>at Shangri-La Plaza<strong></strong>. </p><p>Kristine said she didn&#x27;t want to celebrate her birthday in a grand way this year and opted for a more intimate celebration with her nearest, dearest, and her artwork. </p><p>In the past, she collaborated with record producer Jonathan Manalo for a fusion of art and music. We love her passion when it comes to artistry and building a community,&quot; Christian shared. </p><p>Kevin added that even though they had a fairly short amount of time to pull off this exhibition, they were glad to have found passionate collaborators in Kristine and the Wine Story, a luxury wine retailer. &quot;It&#x27;s a group effort, but I&#x27;m happy everyone&#x27;s here, and I think the turnout is pretty great, and it&#x27;s a great way for her to celebrate her 40th,&quot; Kevin said. </p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:700px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1760429116117kevin udasco christian obedoza kristine soguilon velvet and vines.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner">Kristine Soguilon with Kevin Matthew Udasco (left) and Christian Obedoza</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>Kristine Soguilon&#x27;s 15-piece &quot;Velvet &amp; Vines&quot; exhibit is inspired by wine from countries such as <strong>Australia</strong>, <strong>France</strong>, <strong>Italy</strong>, <strong>New Zealand</strong>, and <strong>Spain</strong>. Her interpretations are seen through the varying wine hues that graced her canvas and complemented her signature weave and leaf combination. Although admittedly, she is not a wine drinker and therefore not well-versed in that aspect, Kristine said, &quot;I believe winemaking and the history of wine is an art in itself, and it&#x27;s not alien to me. So when I made it, everything just flowed, everything was just so spontaneous.&quot; </p><p>A wine flight was part of her creative process for this exhibit, and in the end, she came to realize she prefers red wine. Thanks to her experience with Wine Story, Kristine shared, &quot;Of course, I&#x27;ve had wine from different bars and restaurants before, but this is the only place where I really got to know the history, the culture, and the different tastes of wine, and it&#x27;s really a journey. It&#x27;s not something you just drink; it&#x27;s something you experience.&quot;</p><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1760431994709kristine soguilon velvet and vines 2.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><p>Kristine just concluded two other exhibits: &quot;<strong>Shadows of the Skyline</strong>,&quot; last September 26 at Lobby 385, and &quot;<strong>this is BETHEL</strong>,&quot; a fundraising mental health awareness month solo exhibit, last October 7-11 at The Groove. Bluntly, she said the past months were tiring and challenging for her, so she couldn&#x27;t bring herself to mark her 40th birthday grandly. Despite that, &quot;Velvet &amp; Vines&quot; was like a delightful palate cleanser. &quot;It&#x27;s another milestone. It&#x27;s another journey for me, and I couldn&#x27;t be more thankful,&quot; she shared.</p><p>As she embarks on a new chapter, Kristine reflected, &quot;I just pray that I continue to do the things that God wants me to do.
