Along with pop sensation Sarah Geronimo, who is his wife and fellow fur mommy, Matteo takes care of 04 the Samoyed, Jack Theodore the Poodle, and Dakota the Dachshund, as well as their most recent additions to the family, cute pups Lia and Luca. He does a lot of endorsements with his pups, especially with the fluffy 04.

Derek is known to be a furdad to a lot of fur babies, including Lowfat the Pomeranian, Habibi the Bichon Frise, Riri the Corgi, Shakira the English bulldog, and Skunk and Tyson the American bulldogs.
